Battle of the Fittest

Battle of the Fittest

Following a historic economic depression, the automotive industry seemed to show how affected they are by resurrecting old models for rerun in 2009. We have seen the Challenger back, the Camaro, and of course, the Ford Mustang. Which of these muscled car comebacks won the market of 2009? No doubt, it’s the Mustang!

Motor Trend’s explains how Mustang won the battle:

“In raw numbers, the Mustang fends off the upstart Camaro by selling 66,623 copies in 2009.” The Camaro’s April introduction, however, means that “the Mustang had three more months of sales.” Camaros actually outsold Mustangs every month that both cars were available. The Challenger was a distant third, with just 22,852 sold.

Auto blog also commented:

“Early on there was speculation that the Camaro could overtake the Mustang,” but Ford won out thanks to a strong December. For sold 60 percent more pony cars in December than it had the month before.
