Upcoming…Ferrari

Everyone loves Ferrari. In fact, anyone will dare to ride and drive even the oldest Ferrari because that would be a collectors’ item. That sets the difference. No one will want to do the same if it is ‘just another marquee’. What more if what you are going to ride is a prototype of this newest car from Ferrari?? What if one of the very few of this when the model gets released? Cool, wouldn’t you say?

Wait. Is that a Marlboro?

Tags:

Wait. Is that a Marlboro?

Doctors in Great Britain are pushing for a ban on airing Formula One in British television. Why? Because Scuderia Ferrari has barcodes on their cars and uniforms.

They say the barcode is part of Marlboro’s subliminal advertising, and is thus violating the ban of tobacco ads from the sport. Subliminal advertising refers to the process of reminding audiences of a brand that’s so familiar to them using simpler images, like for example, a barcode. See it for yourself.

Ferrari counters by saying there’s no reason to believe such nonsense and that whoever said this was wasting time. The doctors, on the other hand, have convinced British Members of Parliament to investigate the matter. So what do you think?

Fueled by Passion: Ferrari’s Corse Cliente

Fueled by Passion: Ferrari’s Corse Cliente

If you had all the money in the world, what would you do? Considering that you’re reading this blog, then you must be a fan of all things with an engine and four wheels. And if you’re a fan of Formula One, you might as well have an affinity for Ferraris.

So here’s a suggestion – why not participate in Ferrari’s Corse Clienti program. Translated as ‘Racing Clients’, this program caters to Ferrari owners that just can’t keep their butts off the race track. In exchange for their patronage, Ferrari gives them all-out factory racing support. Part of the package is having Ferrari engineers work and prep up your car along pit row.

The program kicked off in March down at Homestead-Miami Speedway. You’ll find the clients’ Ferrari 599XXs being given the works by Ferrari engineers in the pits down at the Miller Motorsports Park.

Compared to the Ferrari FXX, the 599XX looks a lot tamer, despite its ability to kick its edgier elder sibling’s ass on the racetrack. If you like peaky and unforgiving Ferraris, then the FXX will surely please your taste buds. Otherwise, stick with the 599XX. It’s a lot less intimidating and more drivable.

Walt Disney, eat your heart out

Walt Disney, eat your heart out

Still got the kid in you? Well, then, how abouts a tour into Ferrari land? It’s Neverland with a twist of Ferrari. Here, all baby Ferrari boomers never get old, get all the candy they want and ride like there’s no tomorrow on a Ferrari-inspired roller coaster. For a price, of course. And that includes getting your mom or dad to travel with you to Abu Dhabi. That’s where the Ferrari World Theme Park now stands. But we’re not going to spoil the fun of discovering the enchanted Ferrari-dom yourself, so here’s a tiny list of what to expect:

- Super car emulating roller coaster

- Racing simulators that’s as close to the real thing

- Flume ride into a Ferrari engine (won’t tell you which engine)

- Racing school for amateurs

- Aerial voyage over Italy

- Scrumptious Italian food in Maranello-inspired restaurants (Mamma mia!)

- Beverage counters (you’ll need to rehydrate after the roller coaster ride)

- Pizzas (Duh!)

- International dishes if Italian doesn’t appease you

So there! Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is set to open its gates later this year. Don’t let the above pic set your heart rate to boost. There’s still plenty of time to save up your ride money. Take note, theme park rules apply, so those with health conditions are refrained from taking rides. Cruel, yes. But Ferrari doesn’t want people dropping like flies from the roller coaster. It’ll ruin the experience for everybody. Besides, there’s always the racing simulators. There you can try out if you’ve gots them Schumacher skills you’ve always fantasized about. Only in Abu Dhabi.

Violence and super cars DON’T MIX

Violence and super cars DON’T MIX

Here’s why us automotive bloggers keep writing about and posting pictures of sorry individuals who wrecked their cars.

These two South African gentlement, driving a Lamborghini LP640 and a Ferrari F430 respectively, crashed into each other while the Lambo guy was just leaving a wedding reception.

And get this, Mr. Lambo is a convicted hitman, recently released from prison by political amnesty. So you would expect that he takes out his gun and shoots Mr. Ferrari, right? Wrong.

The two (ahem) gentlemen (ahem, ahem), obviously embarrassed at their stupid situation, decided it would be best to maul anyone in sight taking pictures of their (former) super cars, and stealing their mobile phones.

Unfortunately, for them, one picture leaked out.

Now, if you were in this situation and you’ve just wrecked your multi-million dollar car, would you really want to take it out on bystanders, even if those bystanders happened to be the same people you were in church with during a wedding and partying with afterwards?

These two cavemen just proves not everybody is worthy, or even capable, of driving super cars, even if they could afford it.

Here’s to justice for the concerned bystanders. You see folks, this blog isn’t just for the drivers and car owners. It’s also pro-street walkers.

But does it come in matte black?

But does it come in matte black?

WHAT IS IT with the rich and famous and their love for black? Is Batman just a comic character or was he really born out of some rich orphan’s troubled childhood? If so, then there’s a lot of evidence out there that matte black, apart from being billionaire Bruce Wayne’s trademark color, is the color of choice for rich people who have troubled lives to disguise. It shows on their cars.

Just take this Ferrari F430 Spider, for instance. Despite it sporting a ravish Maranello paintjob, its owner still chose to disguise it under a layer of premium vinyl made by Creative FX. Check out this video showing how Creative FX personnel make this otherwise complex decal process look ever so simple.

It sure beats having your car repainted black. You might be tempted to Batmobilize your own car as well.

Lake House meets House of Crashed Cars

Lake House meets House of Crashed Cars

Talk about irony. How often do monkeys fall from trees? Not very often, I assume. Well, then how about a salvaged exotic car dealer crashing his own exotic? That’s probably as rare as a fish drowning.

That’s exactly the case with Performance Auto Sales owner Andy House. The man who bought and restored the wrecked Ferrari Enzo from actor Eddie Griffin is the same man which recently crashed a Bugatti Veyron into a lake.

Asked by Jalopnik if his Veyron was still salvageable, he replied through e-mail that he was “not sure if the car is salvageable yet, have not had a chance to go survey the damage. I am one of the largest salvage excotic dealers in the world. This car should be repairable but at what cost Im not familiar with. This was a personal car and one that I was very proud of.. it is by far the nicest car that I have ever owned, looking to replace it now!”

Oh well, at least he’s rich enough to afford another one.

Time’s a changin’ – Ferrari

Time’s a changin’ – Ferrari

All you Ferrari fans out there, listen up because here’s a bit of news about what to expect from Maranello for the next couple of years. It comes from nowhere else but the prancing horse’s CEO and managing director Amedeo Felisa’s mouth.

We’re all aware of the 458 Italia and Ferrari’s plans of rolling out a spyder version in the next two years. The California has also been recently launched already offering a topless version. It seems the guys in Maranello have been too focused on their V8 efforts. So what about their V12 flagships?

Well, for those of you who didn’t really like the 612 Scaglietti from 2004, Ferrari has decided to come up with a replacement for it, and that’s to be seen in the next three years. The 599 GTB Foriano is also up for retirement, because despite its HGTE package upgrade, it’s still no match for the young Italia. It’ll still be hitting production lines until 2015, though. Right now, it seems the Italia has the best Ferrari has to offer.

Finally, hard though it may be to accept, Ferrari is finally going to replace the Enzo. The latest incarnation in the 288 GTO, F40, F50 family line promises to be less peaky than the Enzo, with a modernized V12 (not ruling out green technology) or maybe a twin-turbo V8. A lot of Enzo fans are going to get their hearts broken. It seems the Enzo will be the last of Ferrari’s knucklehead prancing horses that’s both hard to drive and hard on errors.

Oh well. All’s well which ends well. There’s no stopping technology in the face of an ever-changing market.

Fox Causes A Ferrari 355 Crash

Fox Causes A Ferrari 355 Crash

We’ve all seen automobile crashes and accidents, and the involvement of supercars and sports cars in these accidents usually bring mixed feelings. We’ve shaken our heads in sympathy to the poor innocent victims who unknowingly crashed the cars and we’ve also shaken our heads in disgust to those rich kids who do nothing better than engage in drag races and crash their parents’ cars.

There are crashes, however, whose cause simply leaves us baffled. Consider this one:

The picture above shows that of a highly wrecked 1997 Ferrari 355 Spider after the driver crashed it in Maidenhead, UK. And the reason? He swerved to avoid hitting a fox! Now that’s one good humanitarian act, but we can’t help but feel sorry for the driver for his beyond repair supercar.

Audi R8 vs. Ferrari 599 in China

Audi R8 vs. Ferrari 599 in China

This crash happened in Fu Zhou, China just last May 25, involving two red exotic automobiles—an Audi R8 and a Ferrari 599.

There were actually three vehicles involved—the two exotic cars and a taxi. The taxi was in front, followed by the Ferrari, which was also being followed by Audi. The latter crashed into the back of the Ferrari when the Ferrari stopped because the taxi in front of it also stopped to pick up passengers.

Fortunately, there are no major physical injuries… Perhaps only hurt pride—especially on the part of the driver of the Audi, which suffered more damage than the Ferrari.
