Not many people would probably think of the Jaguar XF as an option when it comes to towing, but wait till you read about this. The Jaguar XF Diesel S was given the “Money No Object” award during the Towcar Awards 2009.
The said event takes place yearly to provide drivers their needed information when it comes to vehicles reliable for towing. This year, thirty nine cars were tested and the XF was chosen by experts from What Car?, The Camping and Caravanning Club, and Practical Caravan.
According to Towcar Awards head judge David Motton, “If money was no object, this is the car we’d choose to do our towing with. The 3.0-litre Diesel S engine is superb, yet it’s also savagely powerful when the occasion demands, pulling car and caravan from 30-60mph in just 8.3 seconds.”
Among the factors taken into consideration during the judging are towing stability, performance when not towing, practicality, safety, and value.

Jaguar’s pursuit of environmental friendliness is now intensifying, with a new green model being planned after the news of its development of the extended-range electric XJ. And this time friends, it’s going to be a roadster.
While the introduction of the XE roadster may be moved later than the planned date on the 2011 Geneva Motor Show due to the gloomy economy, Motor Trend reveals a good news. This drop-top two-seater will get an extended-range electric version like the Chevy Volt. It will feature a drive-line with a 3-cylinder gas engine paired with lithium-ion batteries driving an electric motor.
Will this hybrid Jag be an addition to the XJ? Or will this be a replacement? We couldn’t be sure by now, and there are also no exact figures yet for this hybrid roadster. Let’s wait and see.

If you’re in UK, it might not be long before you see police officers chasing criminals in a dashing Jaguar. The brand is now offering a police package for its XF sedan, specifically the 3-liter twin-turbo Diesel S variant (275 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque). UK authorities are now evaluating the said vehicle.
According to Auto Blog:
“The police version XF gets a “police pack” electronics package to power equipment, the radio, and enough lights for several Heathrow runways: a roof-mounted light bar with 3600 light elements, side alley lights, blue and white strobing LEDs in the grille and blue flashing LEDs along the side of the car, along with blue and red flashing LED lights in the rear light clusters.”
Well, who wouldn’t want to drive this Jaguar car while on patrol? Let’s hope this gets approved and released soon.

If you haven’t decided yet whether you like the Jaguar XF or not, what with the rather puzzling events happening lately, there’s a new update that might just sway your standing toward the positive—the Jaguar XF Estate!
News has it that this XF wagon concept is going to Frankfurt Motor Show on September. And that doesn’t end there, because if the news is true, then it will only take six months before production begins. This is to be followed by an XFR version—what could be more appealing than this? The vehicle will be equipped with a 5-liter V8 that can produce 510-hp, plus more space for your loads! What else can you say?
The same XF styling and luxury, plus more room and more power that can match that of the Audi RS6 and the BMW M5 Touring? Great!
Many are wondering when the convertible and coupe versions might follow, but I’ll settle here first and wait for developments. Let’s talk about the convertibles and coupes after this. And, let’s just cross our fingers and hope that no problems, no matter how small, will mess up the Estate.

Jaguar XF is a good car. In fact, many would agree that it’s more than a good car. True luxury is associated with the name. The XF has won many awards in the past (the Design Award at the Autocar Awards 2007, the What Car? Car of the Year 2008 and the Best Executive Car the same year, as well as the Best Luxury Car and Best Diesel in the 2008 Scottish Car of the Year Awards). All these are proof to the Jaguar XF quality.
However, just recently, there have been news of small quality defects in several Jaguar XFs. These troubles might be small—a faulty window regulator here, a damaged differential there—but the frequency of their appearance are already starting to arouse questions and doubts regarding the XF.
Last December, I posted about a Jaguar XF recall (twice that month) because of a faulty seatbelt d-ring and an electrical problem. I haven’t heard of any recall that followed after that, but there are reports about Jaguar XF owners experiencing trips to dealers far more than the owners of other automobiles.
So what’s up with the XF?

And make that twice in the month of December alone.

Fortunately, the issues aren’t that serious, although one has to do with a seat belt. It involved a problem with the seat belt at the rear. The belt D-ring assembly may not properly rotate around the belt anchorage mounting bolt, which could be dangerous during times of accidents. In times of a crash, the passenger may not be properly restrained and great danger may result. The recall involved approximately 7,918 2009 Jaguar FX models. The rear safety belt D-ring will be checked and may also be removed to correct problems on the D-ring or washer.
The second recall is due to an electrical problem. The car’s instrument panel is incorporated with an audio, giving feedbacks on functions such as those of the safety belt warnings. However, the wires supporting the speaker can easily get damaged and cause failure of this audio function. The solution? A software simply needs to be tweaked.
With today’s auto industry still unsure of its future, recalls like this, even by a trusted vehicle manufacturer like Jaguar, can do a lot of damage. People are getting more and more skeptical about buying vehicles, and these things are among the least we need right now. Too bad for such a great car like a Jaguar.
