Car Magazine reports that Jaguar is working on launching hybrid models in the year 2013 together with Land Rover. The said hybrid models will feature a 3-liter turbodiesel V6 engine paired with an electric motor and integrated into an 8-speed automatic tranny. The said powertrain is expected to be first incorporated into the Jaguar XJ, to be followed by the XF and then the rest of the Jaguar models.
If you’re looking for a real treat this coming Christmas, you’ll be ecstatic to know that Jaguar is offering a limited edition XJL Supercharged. The luxury car maker is partnering with Neiman Marcus, and the Jaguar XJL Supercharged Neiman Marcus Edition will be included in the latter’s catalog for the holidays.

There have been lots of talks since the future Jaguar XJ came out, and I bet you can’t wait to get your hands on it for real. Unfortunately, we may all just have to wait for a little more time before we can enjoy the XJ.
And to help satiate the cravings of XJ fans, Jaguar has created an online configurator for the said vehicle. The configurator will allow you to check out the various options you have for your Jaguar XJ, from the different levels available up to the paint color choices. There are also a lot of options. After you’ve configured your dream Jag, you’ll be able to see the total cost.
Here are the options:
• Three different levels (standard, supercharged, and supersport)
• Wheelbase: standard and extended
• Fourteen different exterior paint colors (porcelain, ebony, botanical green metallic, caviar metallic, liquid silver metallic, lunar grey metallic, vapour grey metallic, pearl grey metallic, frost blue metallic, indigo metallic, ultimate black metallic, claret metallic, and cashmere metallic)

There are a lot of other options at a cost, and there are a few with no cost at all. These include the front ashtray and lighter, 3-spoke wood and leather heated steering wheel, and the option to remove the XJ badge. Plus, there are also accessories you can choose from.

Jaguar has just stepped up a notch higher with its cool in-dash dual-view navigation system. This new innovation features a split-screen console that allows drivers and passengers to see different images from the screen. While passengers can watch movies, the driver can only see maps and other navigation system features. Therefore, he won’t get distracted while driving.
Cool? Sure. But sadly, it’s still illegal here in the U.S. at this point.
The law prohibits entertainment system in the front area of the vehicle—because of the possible distraction to the driver. Cases like this have not been considered yet. Jaguar is hoping that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will do some revisions of the present regulation to accommodate innovations like this. But until that happens, the new navigation system from Jaguar will remain illegal.

Jaguar Cars tonight officially unveiled the all-new XJ car at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, London.

Standard- and long-wheelbase models are available from launch. The long-wheelbase offers an even more sumptuous and refined environment for rear-seat passengers with an additional 125mm of legroom. Whichever the wheelbase, the XJ’s 520-litre boot can swallow two large suitcases side-by-side.
The all-new XJ’s cabin is a marvel in its own right, blending elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar. Chrome and piano black detailing provide an eye-catching contrast to the beautifully-crafted leather and veneer surfaces.
To complement the all-new cabin design is a level of choice in colours, veneers and leathers not seen before in a Jaguar. Three specification levels - Luxury, Premium Luxury and Portfolio - allow the customer to tailor the car to suit their tastes. Constructed using Jaguar’s aerospace-inspired aluminium body technology, the XJ is lighter than its rivals by at least 150kg which significantly improves performance, handling and economy, while delivering increased strength, refinement and safety.
The lightweight aluminium structure - with 50 percent recycled material - underpinned by a lifecycle approach to vehicle design and manufacture, enables the new XJ to minimise its carbon footprint. This alone creates a potential saving of three tonnes of CO2 per vehicle, compared to a bodyshell made from new aluminium.
The all-new XJ offers extremely attractive cost of ownership with impressive fuel economy and emissions performance across the range; high predicted residual values and 15,000-mile service intervals. A FEW UPDATES:
* According to Jaguar, it has already taken 55 orders for the 2010 XJ in the UK. Here in the United States, we’ll have to wait until December.
* Reports say that the coupe version of the Jaguar XJ is now already being planned. But as to whether the XJ will get a convertible version, no word is out yet. Let’s see what happens.

Due to a brake-related defect, Jaguar is recalling around 15,000 of its 2004 XJ sedans.
The problem has something to do with a pad mounted in the auto’s undercarriage for noise insulation. The said pad may cause dirt and water to accumulate and come in contact with the rear brake pipes, causing corrosion that may in turn result to loss of braking power and accidents. Symptoms of the problem may include the illumination of the brake warning lamp and the display of the message “fluid level low” in the instrument cluster.
Dealers will remove the pad and inspect the pipes for damage. In case rust or any other form of damage is already evident on the pipes, they will be replaced. Recall will start this month and the service is free.
Everybody’s waiting for the new-generation XJ that’s set to be revealed in July. But, recent news say there’s one thing more interesting than the four-door XJ—its hybrid version. Jaguar is said to be working on an extended-range electric XJ similar to the Chevy Volt, thanks to the ₤307 million loan from European Investment Bank.
Like the Volt, the XJ hybrid can be powered by battery alone. Charging the battery involves hooking it up to a grid, and it can be recharged by a small engine when the power runs out while on the move.
And the figures behind this hybrid Jag? It’s aiming for 30 miles on pure electric power, fuel economy of 57 mpg, less than 120 g/km of CO2 emissions, and 112 mph top speed.
Production of the XJ hybrid is set to start in 2011. The brand is working closely with the Lotus Engineering, MIRA, and Caparo in developing the XJ’s powertrain.
