Italian bull no match for the dog that killed hoonage

The dawn of a lame era is coming. To give you a taste of what’s to come, Lamborghini dropped the bomb on its plans to create any more of their super cars with manual transmissions. So that equates to really, really boring Lamborghinis in the future, putting a high premium on old wild bulls. The future is bleak, folks. The dog that killed hooning is in full stride.

Lamborghini’s Green Goals

Lamborghini’s Green Goals

Lamborghini is also starting to go green, but not with the introduction of a hybrid model. Evo reported two ways by which Lamborghini is cutting off its emissions.

The first is with the reduction of weight in its models and the improvement of their power-to-weight ratio. This will be done by teaming up with the University of Washington and Boeing, a leading name in the use of carbon composite solutions, through its research laboratory: the Automobili Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory. The automaker will also be attending the JEC Composites Forum this April.

The second is through with the addition of solar panels in the company’s Sant’Agata factory. The said panels cover more than 17,000 square meters of the company’s factory and have cut its emissions by 30 percent.

PRESS RELEASE: 4000th Lamborghini Murcielago

Italian Super sportscar manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini proudly celebrates a historic event: an LP 670-4 SuperVeloce version of its current flagship V12 Murciélago, carrying series number 4,000, has just left Lamborghini’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, destined for a Chinese buyer.

Commenting on the record production, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, “The enthusiasm our products incite makes us proud and confirms that the company’s product strategy and model range are a winning combination, producing exceptionally desirable super sportscars.”

Only around 2,900 of the previous V12 model, the Lamborghini Diablo, were built over eleven years of production.

The Murciélago SuperVeloce LP 670-4 carrying series number 4,000 is a lightweight version of the Murciélago LP 640 on which it is based.

With an increase in power to 670 hp from its 6.5 V12 engine, and weight reduced by 100 kg, the power-to-weight ratio of the SuperVeloce is 2.3kg/hp. The 0-100km/h acceleration is blisteringly quick at 3.2sec, and top speed reaches 342 km/h (212mph). Only 350 SuperVeloce special series models will be produced, with each one’s soft contours and razor-sharp edges showing the features of an extreme driving machine.

This SuperVeloce will be delivered to Lamborghini’s showroom in Hangzhou: China has become a strategically important market for Lamborghini’s super sportscars. The Italian car manufacturer has a sales affiliate in China as well as seven dealers who have recorded an exponential increase in sales, with the Pacific-Asian area responsible for a quarter of all Lamborghini cars produced.

Murciélago series number 4,000 shows off its carbon fibre body painted in orange Arancione Atlas, a luxurious cockpit in Alcantara and carbon fibre inserts, black sports bucket seats with orange contrasting trim and an imposing rear spoiler which improves vehicle stability at high speeds.

Violence and super cars DON’T MIX

Violence and super cars DON’T MIX

Here’s why us automotive bloggers keep writing about and posting pictures of sorry individuals who wrecked their cars.

These two South African gentlement, driving a Lamborghini LP640 and a Ferrari F430 respectively, crashed into each other while the Lambo guy was just leaving a wedding reception.

And get this, Mr. Lambo is a convicted hitman, recently released from prison by political amnesty. So you would expect that he takes out his gun and shoots Mr. Ferrari, right? Wrong.

The two (ahem) gentlemen (ahem, ahem), obviously embarrassed at their stupid situation, decided it would be best to maul anyone in sight taking pictures of their (former) super cars, and stealing their mobile phones.

Unfortunately, for them, one picture leaked out.

Now, if you were in this situation and you’ve just wrecked your multi-million dollar car, would you really want to take it out on bystanders, even if those bystanders happened to be the same people you were in church with during a wedding and partying with afterwards?

These two cavemen just proves not everybody is worthy, or even capable, of driving super cars, even if they could afford it.

Here’s to justice for the concerned bystanders. You see folks, this blog isn’t just for the drivers and car owners. It’s also pro-street walkers.

Australian Anti-Hoon Law meets angry doctor

Australian Anti-Hoon Law meets angry doctor

Finally, some justice from down under. An Australian judge has ruled against the country’s Anti-Hoon Law which allows police to impound cars being hooned even though it wasn’t its owner behind the wheels. This came after a certain doctor’s Lamborghini Gallardo got impounded when his trusted mechanic decided to have a short trip down speed lane. The doctor stirred up enough public protest to convince the judge, but the cops are still going to keep his Gallardo locked up for 28 days. Saving face, perhaps? However, the cops agreed to wave the $825 impounding fee for the good doctor. If you ask me, I think it’s all lame. What kind of law takes away your car because another driver broke the speed limit in it. They should punish the one driving, not the car nor its owner. Amendments to the law are on their way, and the guilty mechanic will have his own ride impounded as he deserved. So a note to all of you – you better make sure your mechanic can be trusted. Otherwise, don’t leave your car in his or her garage.

The Demise of the Italian Police Force’s Lambo Gallardo

The Demise of the Italian Police Force’s Lambo Gallardo

It’s always painful to see a great luxury car ending in demise, and more so if the reason is a car accident. But for the car to be driven by a policeman when the incident took place is even more frustrating.

That’s what happened to the prized Lamborghini Gallardo of the Bologna police force. According to reports, the car was being driven in Cremona when the accident occurred. Another car leaving a service station cut off the Gallardo, forcing it into a row of parked cars. The impact has been so great that one of the parked cars even ended up on the Gallardo’s roof. The front of the vehicle was also crushed.

Fortunately, the police driver and his police passenger weren’t seriously injured. Still, the demise was regrettable.

Sales of All Sales

Sales of All Sales

Lamborghini Murcielago for $60,000, anyone?

The recent sales held by the Los Angeles Lamborghini dealer Viken Keuylian could be said to have been the sales of all sales, with discounts amounting to more than $300,000. Those would have been heaven for people who’ve been saving for a Lambo or a Ferrari or a Bentley and suddenly finding them offered at highly discounted prices.

For Keuylian, though, those sales were the signs of an impending disaster. The said dealer was arrested and pleaded guilty to defrauding Volkswagen Credit Inc. of at least $6 million in loans.

In 2007, Keuylian fell into debt. When the dealership started to get into financial trouble, he started selling cars at very low prices to keep it surviving. He didn’t report the sale of these cars to his creditor, the Volkswagen Credit Inc. And instead of paying back, he allegedly used the money to pay for his personal debts.

We’re sure Keuylian is in big trouble. But how about those who were able to get the discounted supercars? Well, we can only wonder.

Featuring: A Luxurious 1.09 Karat Bentley Key Fob

Can you believe that?

While most of the automotive companies are focused on the crisis the auto industry is facing today, and while a great percentage of the industry is raving about the newly released hybrid cars that will provide solutions to fuel economy problems, Amosu Luxury is into something new for those who really love luxury at its best no matter what. This luxury customization company, known for customizing such items as cellular phones, cameras, and phone and ipod cases and incorporating them with diamonds and gold, has shifted its focus to doing such customization to the Bentley key fob.

This time, Amosu details the Bentley Flying B logo by incorporating exactly 101 (yes, that’s a hundred and one) diamonds along the wings of logo in the key fob. This totals 1.09 carats at about $8000. Oh-oh, it would even be more dangerous for Bentley owners to lose their car keys now.

Other than Bentley, Amosu Luxury has also produced similar items for Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. The brainchild of Alexander Amosu, Amosu Luxury is known as the “world’s only luxury customization company using diamonds and gold to create the ultimate experience.” Amosu started with the customization of cellular phones. Today, it also customizes Mont Blanc writing instruments and Bluetooth headsets—and now, key fobs. What a unique idea!
