Following Toyota’s announcement of faulty engines on some of its models, Lexus has confirmed the said statement by saying that approximately 137,000 of its vehicles in the U.S. are also “potentially affected.”
This statement was released after the carmaker found faulty valve springs in certain V8 and V6 models. According to Lexus, one possible reason would be the contamination of the said parts with foreign materials during production. No news of recall has been issued yet, although Toyota is said to have been making moves to find a solution to this new problem.
Some of the Lexus models affected by this problem are the IS 350, GS models (350, 460, and 450h), and LS models (460 and 600h L). Vehicle owners are advised to contact their nearest dealer in case they experience problems with their ride.
Last month, the Lexus GX 460 SUV has been issued a “don’t buy recommendation” from Consumer Reports after exercises and tests find the vehicle’s susceptibility to roll-over in certain conditions.
As a solution, Toyota recalled the affected vehicles (around 10,000 units) to fix the software that affects the problem. While the recall was done, sales of the said model had been suspended.
Right now, the problem has already been fixed. Due to this, Consumer Reports has already removed the Lexus GX 460 SUV from its “Don’t Buy” list. Good thing no injuries happened in connection to the said problem.
This is the first time Consumer Reports issue a “don’t buy” recommendation to a Toyota model after conducting tests on the 2010 Lexus GV 460 and finding out that it can roll over given certain instances.
The vehicle’s poor electronic stability control combined with its weight and tires make a rollover a possibility when cornering while quickly lifting the foot off the accelerator pedal. This has been found out after Consumer Reports engineers conducted an exercise to determine the SUV’s lift-off oversteer.
Due to this negative feedback from Consumer Reports, sale of the said model is suspended while investigation is ongoing. Updates, however, say that Toyota has already found a solution through a simple software adjustment.
Who says hybrids are all about environmental friendliness? How would you like to couple that with oozing hotness and road-burning power? Introducing, the Lexus CT 200h:

The important dates we can all look forward to after the Guangzhou Auto Show will be December 4 for the US Debut (LA Auto Show) and January 4 next year for its launch.
Four versions of the Lexus IS Convertible have been on display at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). Each version features distinct characteristics in terms of power, overall performance, and looks.
The first one is a Lexus IS C designed and customized by Lexus’ own Toyota Racing Development division. The said car was incorporated with the F-Sport aero package. It features 19-inch forged aluminum wheels that are supported by F-Sport shocks, springs, and sway bars, as well as new brakes. All these are incorporated in a vehicle body with Vibrance Orange Glow candy paint.
The other three are tuned and customized by other shops, starting with Fox Marketing that presented an attractive bright green Lexus IS C that packs a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of creating approximately 405 horsepower. It’s pure performance with this version of the IS convertible.
The next is by Auto Salon and JTuned.com—a Lexus IS 350C that’s less on performance but more on appeal. It received a performance upgrade in its intake and exhaust systems, but it sports the most appeal in its body: a matte-red and black body with lots of carbon fiber.
The last is a Lexus IS 250C by 0-60 Magazine. The said model sports a Greddy Exhaust System, as well as the following features:
